Chamisa 8x10 oil
At Mt Galbraith Park the day before, Cliff and Sue were painting up above where I was.  I liked their view so much that I returned on my own the next day.  The Chamisa bushes were sparkling in the morning sun against the hill in shadow.  It was definitely worth the drive to Golden.

Mt Galbraith Park 8x10 oil
This PAAC Paint Out was just north of Golden, and another pleasant spring day.  I enjoyed standing next to the little babbling stream, and trying to catch the colors before they changed.

Ridgeline 8x10 oil
I sat up on a hill for this PAAC Paint Out at Ridgeline Open Space.  It was a very pleasant day, and the mountains were hazy in the distance.

Spruce Meadows 8x10 oil
It was unusually warm and extremely windy for this PAAC Paint Out.  After driving more than halfway to Colorado Springs, I wanted to paint a picture of Pikes Peak.  The wind kept blowing my hat off my head, and it landed on the painting a few times.  My easel also blew over a couple of times.  Somehow, the painting was unscathed, and I'm happy with the results.

Gateway Mesa 8x10 oil
Tuesday PAAC Paint Out. It was a cool day, with not much wind.  Since my paint was stiff, I decided to paint again with the palette knife.  The snow shadows were very blue today.

Hudson Gardens 8x10 oil

This was my first Paint Out with Plein Air Artists Colorado (PAAC).  It was a warm February day, about a week after a big snowstorm.  At first, I painted some trees and a frozen river, but I kept glancing out of the corner of my eye at the barn glowing in the afternoon light. When I finished the tree painting, I moved closer to the barn, and painted this quickly with my palette knife.  It turned out much better than the first painting.
